+bug Numbers

Unleash the power of BugID with a +bug Number.

When you have a BugID, you can claim a free or paid (with Bug Points) +bug Phone Number. These are real virtual numbers, but the catch is that only people with BugIDs can send messages to it or ping it, and it has to be done in Bugs+. Doing so will make the call or message automatically rejected instead of it being sent to Bugs+,

Spam Prevention Toolkit

Here are some ways we prevent spam and scams from coming to and from +bug numbers.

• Ask To See +bug Number - With Ask To See +bug Number, which is enabled by default and can be disabled, the user can ask to see your +bug Number, directly from your profile, when they don't have your +bug Number. If the user already has it, there may be spam or scams attempted, but they will be most likely to be blocked by our other tools. Ask To See +bug Number requesters don't bypass the Spam Prevention tools.

• Anti-Scam - Even though this is not apart of +bug Numbers, it can be used with it. This means that when someone sends you a scammy trade and you engage on it, or the user sounds sussy and you are about to accept it, you will get warnings. You can also configure it, see this page - Anti-Scam Level.

• Investigation Tools - This anti-spam feature offers a set of tools to investigate users, such as getting reminders when a user you are contacting or got a message from is currently under investigation by an admin while using a +bug Number. You can also open the Investigation Tools page, a free tool to investigate how the +bug Number is used, and if there is any spam reports.

Claim a +bug Number

To claim a +bug Number, please follow the following steps:

If you have not dismissed the +bug Number recommendation:

1. In the recommendation popup that talks about getting a free +bug Number, press Setup Now. If you dismissed it, you can always claim it later.

2. The system will recommend 2 random numbers for you. Choose the one you like, or choose to refresh. If the number is available, you will be able to claim it. If you want a vantiy number like +bug then 2 random numbers then text of your choice, click Choose Your Own. Note that choosing your own will require you to get a paid version of +bug Number.

3. Choose if you want the Free version, or select a tier of +bug Number Premium.

4. Review the details, and press the Claim It! button.

5. The number will shortly be registered with your BugID.

6. To prevent bots and spammers, you will be asked to login with your BugID again and complete a captcha. This will activate the number. If you can't do that at the moment, you can press Can't do it or don't have time? then press Activate Later. Unactivated numbers can't be texted or pinged, for any reason. This is to prevent spam. Feel free to complete the activation process later. Unactivated numbers can last for up to 7 days unactivated, without the number being revoked and automatically getting banned from Bugs+ (auto bans for failure to activate does not apply to Kids Accounts). Feel free to contact Bugs+ Support if you have issues.

If you have dismissed the recommendation or don't see it:

1. On the Home tab (the house icon), you should get a button with text about "Claim A +bug Number". Click that, then press Setup Now. If you don't get it, go to the Account tab (the person icon) then press +bug Number then press Create a new +bug Number. You can create up to 2 phone numbers. Your second +bug Number can't be used for verification methods for Sign In With +bug Number, and the second number must be a use a +bug Second Number subscription with the payment of Bug Points.

2. The system will recommend 2 random numbers for you. Choose the one you like, or choose to refresh. If the number is available, you will be able to claim it. Managing a number that is unactivated:

1. Go to the Account tab (the person icon) then press +bug Number.

2. Then you should see a popup saying that the number is still pending activation. Login with your BugID, and complete the captcha. Unactivated numbers can last for up to 7 days unactivated, without the number being revoked and getting banned from Bugs+. Feel free to contact Bugs+ Support if you have issues. If you no longer want the number, press Revoke This Number. This will also prevent you from getting auto-banned for the reason of the number not being activated.

Kids Accounts +bug Number limitations

Multiple features are turned off for users who have a Kids Account or an account with parental controls turned on.

What kids can not and can do with a +bug Number:

• Kids Accounts can only choose the Free plan of +bug Number. This also means a second number is not possible.

• Kids Accounts can only receive and send messages to friends on the Friends List. If the friends list is disabled via the Parental Controls, the parent will have to approve each message or/and ping with the Parent PIN.

• To activate the +bug Number on a Kids account, a Parent PIN will be required to be entered.

• The permission ”Free Talk” is required to send messages without the pre-defined messages being forced (but not ping or send and receive limited chat messages) on Kids Accounts.
